Regional Badr-Fayoum Road
(Second Greater Cairo Ring Road)
The design criteria of the road comply with the classification of the Ring Road as a ‘Regional Road’, with a design speed of 120 km/hr, a separate level and free interchanges with other main roads. There are four in each direction, and the width of each lane is 3.65 m with a transversal slope of about 2%. The total pavement cross section is 67 cm, consisting of 12 cm asphaltic layers, a 25 cm base course and a 30 cm sub-base course.
The total project cost has been estimated to be one billion Egyptian pound, for the construction of:

- 2 main bridges across the Nile
- 6 structures at the interchanges with other main roads
