Designed to accommodate 5,500 full-time students and 1,500 faculty and staff members, the American University in Cairo (AUC) is set to be an international city of learning and a worldwide architectural land mark. The new campus weaves Egyptian urban and architectural traditions into a modern campus.
Detailed Scope
The total footprint of AUC’s New Cairo campus is 260 acres. The footprint of all buildings is 14 acres and 120 acres are available for future expansion.
The New Cairo campus was built using 24,000 tons of reinforcing steel, as well as 115,000 m2 of stone, and includes at least 100,00 pieces of FF&E items. Particularly, the campus interior design has been carefully researched from both a technical and aesthetic perspective. From teaching walls and custom-made furniture to lighting, acoustics and rugs, international interior designers have scrutinised the smallest details that help create an optimal learning environment.
The AUC new campus development project is realized by the collaborative work of a team of international standard architects, consultants, and contractors. ACE PM has been a prime member of this team. We were appointed by the AUC to be the project manager for the FF&E scope.
ACE’s responsibilities included the management of the project’s fixtures, furniture and equipment throughout all its phases including procurement and contracting, manufacturing, quality control and inspection of the produced items, site installation and supervision till operational handing-over.
