Sixth of October Bridge

The massive Sixth of October Bridge in Cairo, Egypt is considered the main artery of the Egyptian transport network. It comprises numerous ramps and loops, hence it’s starting date of 1975 and completion in 2000. Its width varies between 18 m to 35 m according to the traffic volume. It is 22 km in length consisting of a main bridge, elevated roads, and interchanges, with 9 phases of prestressed concrete, reinforced concrete, steel and cable stayed constructions.

The total cost of the project with currency adjustments is approximately 900 million Egyptian pounds.
